Freeride in Courmayeur, Aosta Valley

Freeride is a way of skiing or snowboarding off-piste in deep snow. To practice it, it is necessary to know traditional skiing technique very well and to be in good physical shape.

How it works ?

Freeride in Courmayeur starts at 8:30 a.m. You will be provided with safety equipment (shovel, artva, probe) and, after a briefing with the mountain guide, you will board the cable car and then descend off-piste.

There is a lunch break at the restaurant or bar for a quick meal and you will continue the descent in the afternoon.

The Courmayeur ski area offers an excellent choice of off-piste skiing routes.

The main runs are:

Arp Dolonne, Canal de Dolonne: It starts from the lifts of the Courmayeur ski area, up to 2700m at the lift called Arp. From here, following a series of channels and open slopes, you descend to the village of Dolonne, 1500m lower down.

Arp Vieille, Vesse Canal: It starts from the lifts of the Courmayeur ski area, up to the 2700m of the lift called Arp. From here you descend in a northerly direction, and through channels and slopes in the presence of Mont Blanc you reach Val Veny. You end the descent at the start of the Zerotta chairlift, from which it is possible to return to the Courmayeur ski area and start again for more off-piste runs.

Pavillon woods: Start at the Mont Blanc SkyWay cable car, and descend to the first Pavillon station at almost 2200m. From here, off-piste descents start among fir forests with endless route choices.

Return is scheduled around 3 /4 p.m.
